Toronto Dance Theatre

Come see an exciting line up of dancers perform short pieces set to music from the film score or movie soundtrack of their choice! Curated by Toronto Dance Theatre’s artistic director Andrew Tay, this dance activation will feature one-of-a-kind performances from tap, contemporary, street dance and more! Toronto Dance Theatre is the legendary artistic home and collaboration hub where, since 1968, curious creators, ensemble performers, and audiences inspire each other to create and celebrate new explorations of dance that reflect our times, our diverse cultures, and communities. Ever fresh and adventurous, TDT is one of Canada’s leading innovators in dance while being one of the very few dance companies in the country with a full-time ensemble of dancers. TDT is driven to make a significant impact in Canadian dance by developing enthralling new stage works, creating empowering dance activations in the community, and supporting artists through residency opportunities that encourage artistic risk-taking. Andrew Tay is the Artistic Director of TDT and is a multifaceted performance curator, choreographer and DJ. He co-founded Wants & Needs Danse with Sasha Kleinplatz in Montreal, producing the wildly popular dance events Short & Sweet and Piss in the Pool, which take place in non-traditional venues. Tay became the first Artistic Curator of the Centre de Creation O Vertigo (CCOV) Montreal (2017) and was named on the list of “50 Under 50 Shaping Tomorrow” by Concordia University (2022). His work has been presented in contexts such as Kampnagel (Germany), Fierce Festival (UK), MDT (Sweden), and Festival TransAmeriques (Montreal). Known for bringing unconventional thinking to dance institutions, Tay actively thinks about community, irreverence, and resistance in both his artistic and curatorial practices.
